Toronto, ON, Canada
As the Director, Digital, News, Stephanie Wilson Chapin is responsible for the operations, strategy, and growth of Bell Media’s digital news properties including CTVNews.ca, CTV’s local news sites, BNN.ca, and CP24.com. Stephanie began her career in digital right out of journalism school at a small Internet agency where she was responsible for surfing the Internet for health links on a brand new web site called Sympatico.ca. Back then, the Internet connection cut out every time the office phone rang.
Fast-forward 17 years and she’s added The Globe and Mail, Hearst Publications, Harlequin Enterprises, a second position with Sympatico.ca, and now Bell Media to her resume. Just prior to her current role, Stephanie managed the News and Entertainment channels at Sympatico.ca, driving a 50% increase in news-channel revenue and 185% growth in unique visitors to the news section in 2011. Over the past year, she led a re-launch of the CTV News and CP24 digital properties. The change resulted in a 15% increase in the audience visiting Bell Media’s news sites, and a 40% increase in video views for CTVNews.ca in the last half of 2012.
